All India Radio's first Telugu woman newsreader, Jolepalyam Mangamma, was born on September 12, 1925 in Madanapalle. She received her MA, BEd, and doctorate from Delhi University. She joined AIR in 1960 and worked as a newsreader and editor. She held key positions in the Union Ministry of Information and External Affairs. She is fluent in ENG, French, Esperanto, Tamil, and Hindi.
